This 47cm (X-Small) TREK 5200 WSD is an ultralight racing bike handbuilt in the USA. The frame is OCLV 120 Carbon and the fork is Bontrager Race Carbon. The bike weighs only 18.6 pounds fully equipped.

This bike features the Shimano Ultegra Group and Bontrager Wheels, seat, carbon Race X Lite seatpost, Race WSD Handlebars, and Race stem. The only non-stock parts are Michelin PRO Race tires.

This bike is a quality engineered women's touring machine. It was designed by Georgena Terry specifically tailored to women's body shape and dimension.
The size is 19" center to top tube.

The frame has been designed to run a 24" wheel in front and a 700c wheel in the rear. This is done to give the rider adequate toe clearance but also keep their pedal stroke powerful.

It is equipped with Shimano Deore brake and shifting systems, shimano Tiagra crankset, and velocity aerohead wheels. This bike also comes with the original revolutionary Liberator seat.

This is a sick hardtail bike, 29" tire in the front with a 26" tire in the back. It is set up single speed 32T chainring up front 18T freewheel in back. With the 29" tire in front, you get the speed and cornering ability of a 29er but you retain manueverability because of the 26" tire in the back. The 69er is made for ripping turns. It’s especially adept on fast, curvy singletrack; lean it, carve it and stay off the brakes—the 69er corners like a souped-up slot car. Andy wanted his Giant road bike rebuilt, so Zencog did just that. The frame was powdercoated bright green, Shimano Tiagra components were installed and a carbon fiber Origin 8 fork was slapped on to make the ride smooth. Surly Steamroller Meets ZenCog

I have been so busy creating the shop, I have not had the time to personally create a new whip - Garf has been doing all the real work. This is the Steamroller. Actually a bit of a concoction of old and new. Even though ZenCog now can buy direct from dealers, I picked up some stuff on Ebay and added some cool stuff new like the Miche Supertype seatpost, new bamboo grips (Garf's idea), and a new wheelset - coaster brake of course!

The frame and Chris King headset came together from a pre-loved setup from Ebay. The saddle used to be on Eddie - an old Bassano, and the crankset a Campy Veloce that came over from the man cave, where it all started. The pedals are some old crap - but I like them.

This baby is mine, but come by the shop and ride her - I like to share. We will be glad to hook you up with your own. BTW - I have never had a Chris King before and didn't understand the hype -- this is really one sweet headset! And those Weinmann decals need to come off. I am loving the Origin 8 riser bar, sleek stem and bamboo grips.

Hey guys we just got a 2001 Redline dually. It is pretty awesome like a BMX bike and a mountain bike. Some people might call this a curb jumper. It has a Shimano Deore deraileur for the nine speed cassette, Tektro v-brakes, Alex DM 24 rims with Sunrace hubs, presta valve tubes wrapped inside Maxis instinct tires. The stem is aluminium probably by Redline and the bars are Titec hell bent. It has Redline seat and post and an aluminium frame. The best thing is the Redline flight cranks with a 38 tooth chain ring also made by Redline. The RST fork is probably an 8o mm travel model. This bike would be an awesome urban assault/bar cruiser. The frame has a 22.5" toptube and a 13" seat tube. It would be considered a small frame but great for whipping around.

Hey folks, this is Sean's ride: It is an 80's Schwinn. She was made in Chicago, and it she is lugged steel, the best kind in my opinion. He brought in a frame and he picked out components and accessories to pimp her out. she is not complete but i hope to get the rest of the parts in tomorrow. He picked it up saturday just like we planned here is the final picture. he was happy and so was i she came out beutifully.

This is a used Windsor Clockworks: it is a 54cm by the manufacturer website and has a 51.5 seattube with a 55.5 toptube. It is maroon in color and almost looks purple. The bike has alex rims, vittoria tires, orgin8 saddle, and deda grip tape. It is set to run fixed but can be freewheel.

Blue Dawn

The Blue Dawn is the newest 56cm ZenCog, this one built in the shop by Steve, although I designed it. He even hand built the wheels. This bike is made with almost all new parts, the front hub and seatpost are vintage. The coaster hub is from Velosteel from the Czech Republic. Steve hand made the leather hub shiners and stamped them with an enso. Most of the other components are Origin 8, which is a trendy but medium cost component group including the saddle cranks and handlebar. Blue Haze is different from all previous ZenCogs with its contemporary gold components including the chain. The steerer tube is yet to be cut so we can perfect fit her to the new owner. Daccordi Big Red

Meet my newest re-incarnation the 59cm Daccordi Designer full on Columbus steel Italian bike - Big Red. She is larger than my usual 56-57cm bike, but I love mounting up on this big lady. I found her on Craigslist and instead of a single speed conversion, I kept her 6 speed freewheel. She had all Campagnolo Victory series components from the 1980's.

I found an Eddy Merckx bike at a pawn shop one day and hung it in the shop. I should have taken "before" pictures because it was absolutely disgustingly filthy. The grimy dusty classic from 1989 looked like it was beyond repair, and many parts like the STI shifter brake levers were totalled. No problem, because he was to become a single speed. At this time, Eddy is not for sale, I just wanted to share!

Andy recommended that I take the pictures on this old bridge in Riverside and that turned out to be a good decision.

I had picked up this Bassano cork looking well worn leather saddle a while ago. The orange frame was calling out to it in the shop. It found a home.

I finally found a project to put the MKS GR-9 track pedals on.

The Mavic wheelset came with Eddy.

I replaced the handlebar with these Italamura drops with cable grooves.

The bike was already void of stickers, and the only branding was embossed in the frame. The frame was obviously powdercoated pumpkin orange by the former owner.

The chainstay is chrome with Campagnolo dropouts. This made the clean single speed conversion doable.

The drivetrain is super stiff and accelerates like a bandit. The efficiency of the single speed helps Eddy take off! I set him up 53T by 18T, almost a perfect 3x.

I used the Ultegra crankarms and Octalink bottom bracket that came with the bike. After a lot of cleaning they look great. I converted the double to a single.

The carbon fork came with the bike. Manufacturer unknown.

I took the Cane Creek SCR-5 aero levers off dirt drop handlebars that I used on a mountain bike.

I finished off the Cinelli cork tape with wine bottle corks.

The Shimano Ultegra hubs were already laced to the Mavic rims.

The Stronglight headset rolled smooth, so I didn't mess with it.

The single speed spacers allowed me to get a perfect chainline and keep the chainring on the outside of the spindle.

This outlet to the St. Johns River was the perfect spot for the photo shoot.

The Shimano 600 caliper brakes came with the bike.

I had previously picked up this Shimano 600 aero seatpost. Eddy was calling for it.

Bumble Bee

The Bumble Bee is a commissioned bike for Chris in Chicago. I finished the bike on the eve of Independence Day, which was appropriate since this bike will mean Independence for Chris. Pure and simple, bicycles are freedom. The ZenCog is one of the simplest serious bikes made. The owner is free from fuel, as well as difficult repairs since there are so few parts. I am sure Chris will learn to maintain the Bumble Bee and that will provide him with freedom!

I found a spot near my shop to take these pictures. The storm water grill made a great spot to prop the bike.

The inspiration for the Bumble Bee came from this yellow embroidered Selle Italia Nitrox saddle I had in inventory. I paired it with a used Ritchie seatpost.

I used new old stock MKS touring pedals.

Chris requested 32c tires. These are IRC Urban Masters, installed on Vuelta rims. I removed the stickers from the rims. I was pleased when the valve cover was yellow to match, that was just fate.

The wheels are handmade by Jose Barerra in California. He uses HiStop coaster brake hubs. I used a bit of handlebar tape to protect the chainstay from the brake arm bracket.

The ZenCog Enzo headbadge, handmade by Jen Green from sterling silver.

Fizik bar tape is used on Origin8 bullorns.

Jose uses Suntour sealed bearing front hubs.

These Campagnolo 172.5 crank arms are sheer beauty.

The 53t chainring came from a Campagnolo Record crankset. If you look close you can see the crank peg on the chainring which is naked without the Record crank arm. I decided not to file it off.

Whitney Pink

The Whitney Pink is a custom made ZenCog for Whitney a model who lives in New York. I built the bike as a gift for her, a fellow Atlantic Beach resident who made it to the Big Apple. She says she wanted a beach cruiser for the city. This is more of a city cruiser. The color was custom to match her favorite nail polish. I used new and top end vintage parts to give the bike a totally unique style. I hope Whitney will enjoy riding it in Central Park.

Chill Peppa

Meet the Chill Peppa, A pre-built ZenCog 700c Coaster Brake bike made with a new frame and re-incarnated quality components. We can build a custom ZenCog for $700.

The bike is built on a road bike frame with mountain bike parts. All components are black except for the sparkling green WTB saddle.

700x40c Michelin TransWorld Sprint tires take the Peppa off road and navigates grass lawns easily.

The cockpit is clean and unique

Excellent Sun Rims are used on this coaster brake bike

The wheel builder ran out of silver spokes and mixed in some black. I decided to keep the mix for this whimsy mutt. The high flange track hub on the front wheel is beautiful.

The Ritchie Comp handlebar was confiscated from a Redline Monocog 29er. It is affixed to the bike with a Salsa stem, hence the Peppa.

The rear wheel hub has a 16t which rests in track dropouts. The Maxway frame has tension bolts to keep the chainline taught.

The pedals are Globe pedals from Specialized. You can ride this slow rider barefoot.

The Redline cranks come off the same Monocog as the handlebar

The Ergon grips are the best available. Once you try these you will never use another.

The ZenCog Chill Peppa is made to ride slow. The 36x16 gear ratio is like a mountain bike single speed and you will not win any road race. This bike is made for Chillin'. The cost of $595 is half of what a new component custom ZenCog would set you back.

The CreamCycle

The newest Zencog is the CreamCycle. Everyone has their favorite childhood memories, and one of mine is sitting on the curb in July and eating a Creamcicle (orange ice enveloping vanilla ice cream on a stick). The challenge was to not eat it too fast so that you can enjoy every drop, but not have the ice melt all over your hand and the street, while getting a taste of the vanilla ice cream.

I have recreated that joy in the CreamCycle, which now belongs to Paula, my Yoga instructor. I delivered it this week before being twisted into knots at her studio. ZenCog has taken a new path as I develop the art and the business model. In addition to custom building the bike with the same components, ZenCogs will use the same frame from Maxway while the components will be reincarnated from "new old stock" or used vintage and older parts. This allows me to bring the price down and add more soul to the functional art. Check out some of the components I used on the CreamCycle.

The leather saddle is a Selle Italia Nitrox. This older saddle is new and had a nice orange embroidery surrounding the gel center that I thought matched the frame well and Paula's personality.

The frame is from Maxway. I use this 4130 Cromoly steel frame for it's plush ride, strength and and versatility. It has the ability to take a tire up to 40mm, fenders, and cable stops if the owner wishes to add caliper brakes. This frame comes from the same factory and has very similar geometry as the Surly Steamroller. This frame is 49cm.

The wheelset is made in California by Jose in a one man shop JB Wheels. I used the white rims to keep the theme of the CreamCycle. The tires are Hutchinson Reflex kevlar.

The classic vintage used rubber MKS street bike pedals are awesome. They spin freely, shine, and are perfect for Paula who lives at the beach. She can wear flip-flops and jump on the CreamCycle to go to her studio. The three mile ride through Atlantic Beach will be a nice warmup for her soul and body as she prepares to teach her class.

The Sakae crankset comes from a vintage Trek Elance 400 that I took apart and sold the frame. I polished the crankset back to life. I used the inner ring - a 40t, and its original home on the inside position to create the sought out perfect 42mm chainline. The 40t combined with the 18t cog (slightly over 2:1 ratio) provides nearly 60 gear inches, which is slightly more than a beach cruiser. It will max out at about 15mph, but this bike is not designed to race.

I found this new Shimano Ultegra seatpost to be the perfect "neck" for the saddle. It is beautiful and lightweight.

One evening at Yoga I asked Paula to bring in some corks. She had mentioned that she liked to drink an occasional glass of wine so I thought how appropriate to take a part of her soul through a wine that she liked and put it in the bike. One of the corks had a sun on it. I think it is the on the right. Paula is always talking about the light inside you. There is definitely light inside the CreamCycle.

I matched a new old stock vintage Sakae Custom handlebar with a new polished alloy Ritchey Pro stem.

I finished the 20 lb. CreamCycle with bike jewelry from Jen Green. The sterling silver "enzo" is the headbadge and only ZenCog branding on the bike. I use a 3m tape that makes the enzo appear to float on the bike, and not look attached. I hope that Paula will have many years of floating over pavement on the CreamCycle. I am sure this one will not melt too quickly.

Avondale Coasting

The Timeless ZenCog could have been posed with this house over 100 years ago and yet does not look out of place. The photos would have been black and white of course. Click on the photos to get close and personal with the ZenCog.

The Zen Head Badge is sterling silver and hand made by Jen Green. This is the only ZenCog branding on my bikes. The ZenCog is intended to be functional art that will improve your life through simplicity, exercise, and riding meditation. This bike is not intended to be a billboard for the manufacturers. I have left some simple branding from components, but large branding has been removed.

This house is located in Avondale, Jacksonville, FL one block from the St. Johns River. Avondale is an historic area and very eclectic, with residents from all eco-strata.

This is a Metallic Silver Zencog with Nitto Bullhorns and Brooks Honey Leather. This is the original prototype. ZenCogs are custom ordered and the frame can be powder coated to any color clients desire. Leather choices are honey, green, or black.

Brooks Cork Bar Ends add to the unique timeless appearance of the ZenCog, You won't find any carbon fiber on this steed!

MKS Touring Pedals will accept clips. Many track pedals have one preferred side to step on , and are shorter for tight cornering. These touring pedals are the same on both sides and can be used with any shoe, even flip-flops.

My Chocolate Converse All-Stars, a/k/a Chuck Taylors and rolled right leg Levis. This is part of my cycling devolution. When I started on road bikes I went for all the spandex clothes and clipless pedals. It was such a production to get ready to ride. The ZenCog is the devoltion (opposite of evolution) of cycling for me. I want it simple, I want it whenever, and I do not want to look ridiculous. I am not a racer, I am a rider!

Hand hammered copper rivets hold the ageless Brooks Saddle together. This is the B-17 Special model, which is used on all ZenCogs.

Books leather is used to protect the frame made by Maxway, the same Taiwan factory that fabricates Surly, Salsa, Jamis, and Voodoo frames. The HiStop coaster brake hub operates simply by back pedaling like I did as a kid. The main difference is I did not ride my Schwinn at 20mph. I have to give enough distance for braking and modulate properly to avoid skidding. Unless of course that is what I intend to do!

The ZenCog looks sexy from every angle. Check out the ZenCog's ass. Sweet!

Zoom in to the headset spacers on the right. They are a combination of 5mm and 10mm alloy rings. The Ritchie Pro stem can be moved down and adjusted by repositioning the spacers above and below the stem, which can also be flipped to make a more aggressive ride. I removed the obnoxiously large logos from the stem.

The Suntour sealed bearing front hub is laced to the Vuelta deep V black and machine silver rims with black anodized stainless steel spokes. I removed the Vuelta Italy stickers from the rims to protect the purity of the ZenCog.

Fat tires from Schwalbe. Certainly not as large as the 2-2.5" Big Apples used for 29er mountain bikes, the Marathon Plus 35c indestructible tire rides smooth and takes anything thrown its way. I rode over a jagged edge beer bottle neck on this Avondale coast and there was no impact to the tire. It was part of research and development!

The Sugino RD 48T is beautiful and timeless. I am so glad they changed the branding to the "S Crown." Very subtle and nice touch. The chain ring is relatively large, but can be tamed with a large cog in the rear. This setup is 48X18 and is just right for me. A bit tough on bridges, but minor grade changes are no problem, and it hauls ass on flat land! Note the well thought out green self extracting bolt dust cover. These are not easy to come by, but the details of a ZenCog makes it unique.

The Metallic Silver Zencog glistens in the sun like a fine piece of jewelry. It is simple clean and sparkling. There is nothing like a ZenCog, fat tire, single speed, coaster brake bike!
